Youth Activity Center |
|
There's LOTS going on at the
Buckley Youth Activity Center. Don't miss out on the fun!
Click here for Summer, 2009 events.
The Youth Center Drop-In Program is intended primarily for kids ages
8 to 18 and is set up as a drop-in format, so kids can come and go as they
please. For many kids, this provides the opportunity to engage in fun
supervised activities with their peers; while acting as a good alternative
to going home to an empty house, and idle activities after school.
In order to participate in the drop-in program youth must fill out contact
information, and sign our rules. Parent/ legal guardian must sign contact
information to verify its accuracy and to acknowledge that they’re aware of
their child’s participation here.
The Youth Center offers activities such as foosball, air hockey, board
games, pool, gamecube, x box, and a computer lab, as well as other organized
activities.
Drop-in program hours run 2:30-7:30pm Tuesday - Friday & Saturday
1:30-7:30pm.

Chamber of Commerce Balloon Journey |
|
On the afternoon of Saturday, June 23
during the Buckley Log Show Street Fair, 3 helium balloons got away from the
Chamber of Commerce Booth. As we watched them fly into the sky, we
wondered where they might land. Perhaps in the middle school parking
lot, perhaps as far as Rainier School or perhaps they might even get as far
away as Mt. Peak. . . or perhaps they would fly to the other side of Mt.
Rainier, cross over rivers, lakes, fields, and an international border!
It seems our balloons had the ride of their
life. They landed in Winfield, British Columbia, Canada. Hmm. .
.thought all air travel from US into Canada now requires passports.
The Chamber recently received this e-mail from those who found our Buckley
Chamber of Commerce balloons.
"Hello,
My name is Liane and I am
sending you this email and picture as we found this quite astonishing.
We live in Winfield BC,
which is located between Kelowna and Vernon in the Okanogan Valley.
This morning when my father
went out to the garden he found 3 balloons nestled in the lettuce with the
Buckley Chamber of Commerce on them. At first we thought an event had
occurred near us and
laughed that they landed in our garden. However we did
not recall any place here called Buckley. I went
to the computer and checked
Google to see where you are and to our surprise not only were you not
in the immediate area but in another country. As I checked the website I
noticed you are having an
event this weekend - I
believe the Loggers Rodeo. We are pretty amazed that these balloons perhaps
launched yesterday made it to our garden by this morning.
We could not resist sending
the picture to you and hope you will get a kick out of it as well.
Best regards from Winfield
BC, Canada”
